F/i
Richard Franecki has been in various bands since the late 1970’s. Mostly punk - think Stooges, MC5, Ramones. Largely interested in experimental, off the wall music, krautrockers Amon Duul, Ash Ra Tempel, Can, and Faust remain a big influence on him. Bored of the punk scene, Greg Kurczewski and Franecki left The Drag and formed the first version of what became F/i, later adding Brian Wensing and Steve Zimmerman. The membership was very loose and fluid - Greg dropped out, to return from time to time, and Lars Kvam occasionally sat in on sax. Their recordings were very off the cuff, and eventually morphed into a more conventional psych/space rock band. ‘Invisible Men’ represents a period of going off on tangents and trying out all sorts of sounds.
